Worried about fraud?
Do you think you’ve been scammed? Have you spotted a strange account number or a fake link? Find out what you should do.
How can we help you?
I'm seeing a strange account number or IBAN
You should see an ABN AMRO account number. This is because the money is first transferred to a clearing account when you pay a Tikkie. We then transfer the money from that account to the recipient. Luckily, more and more Tikkies show you the holder of the IBAN you’re paying, so you’ve got a better idea of who you’re dealing with and know it’s secure.
Why a clearing account?
We use a clearing account, because we use iDEAL | Wero to make the payments. iDEAL | Wero works with 1 registered account number, which is why you see an ABN AMRO account.
Is the account number in the description correct? The transfer’s description shows the account number you’re transferring the money to. If this isn’t the right account number, please tell us!
I've received a fake link
You can instantly recognise a real Tikkie link, because it always starts with the same text: https://tikkie.me/pay/. If your link doesn’t start with this, it’s not a link from our Tikkie app.
Email us the fake linksPlease forward fake links to valse-email@nl.abnamro.com. If you receive the link by text message, you can forward it to +31(0)97 008 101 095. We gather all messages and make every effort to take down such websites as fast as we can.
Clicked a fake link?
Clicking the link enables fraudsters to install dangerous spyware on your device, which they might then be able to use to watch what you do on your device and scam you in the future. This has happened numerous times on computers, but not (yet) so often on smartphones. We advise you to call your bank, so they can check whether anything strange has happened or anyone’s tried to access your account.
I want to report fraud
Thank you for being so alert. Always report the matter to the police and your own bank, and us. We’ll investigate the Tikkie user. Your bank can help you try to get your money back.
How to pay securely with Tikkie
Got an unexpected Tikkie?
Does the payment request come unexpectedly? Or do you not know the sender? Then do not pay and always try to contact the sender first.
How can I tell whether a Tikkie is real?
All Tikkies start with exactly the same text: https://tikkie.me/pay/ There is also a 'lock' icon 🔒 in front of the link in the address bar. Doesn't the link start like this? Then it’s not a link from the Tikkie app.
Is it really Markplaats fraud?
Are you sure you’re not going to get your money? We often receive notices of fraud from people who assume too quickly that they’re being scammed. Wait at least 1 or 2 days, then report the matter to the police, Markplaats, your own bank and us.
Business Tikkies have a green check mark ✅
Do you receive a Tikkie from a company or government institution? Then check whether there is a green check mark behind the name. This means that Tikkie has checked this sender.
